United Kingdom Of Great Britain And Northern Ireland

            The United Kingdom consists of Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland) and Northern Ireland. England has existed as a unified entity since 10th century, whilst with the Act of Union Wales and Scotland agreed to permanently join as Great Britain. The Anglo-Irish treaty , formalised a partition of Ireland remained part of the United Kingdom as Northern Ireland and the current name known as the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, was adopted in 1927.It has a long history as a major player in international affairs and fulfils an important role in EU, UN and NATO.

            The United Kingdom is a constitutional and parliamentary democracy, with a queen and a parliament that has two houses: the House of Lords and the House of Commons. Supreme legislative power is vested in parliament, which sits for five years unless dissolved sooner. The executive power of the Crown is exercised by the cabinet, headed by the prime minister.

            The United Kingdom is ethnically diverse, partly as a legacy of empire. The country has been struggling with issues revolving around multiculturalism, immigration and national identity. The country itself has been at the forefront of youth culture since heyday of the Beatles and Rolling Stones in the 60s. It has the rich literary heritage encompassing the works of English writers such as William Shakespeare, Charles Dickens and Northern Irishman Seamus Heaney. The traditional music has deep roots across the country, which has also produced classical composers from Henry Purcell in the Baroque period to Benjamin Britten in the 20th century. Not to forget the modern music such as The Police, Elton John and many more.

            London is the capital city and one of the busiest cities in the world. Been visited by many people for its attraction and culture, business, health treatment, and education  Having a museum which locate almost half of the world heritage, United Kingdom are a place to visit and a place of sharing knowledge in many aspects.
