Myth and fact about Silat Seni
Gayong. A proposal of writing this topic was throw by a friend and student of mine.
I will try to list a few facts and myths that surrounding within the art.
Before that we must understand the meaning of both words. Myth is a story with
purpose that may or not be true, and many historian think myth are about actual
event that have become strong symbolic meaning. While fact is an event known to
have happened, and which confirmed to such an extent that it is considered reality.
The Myth...The Fact...
Once it was told by the founder
that he was born together with a kind of worms and to believe the worms has
turn to a dragon in the sea. So what is the symbolic of these stories? As we
think deeply it was an event always related in the art of Silat Seni Gayong
from the beginning till end. Which we have to think hard of the knowledge that
surrounding these stories. Dragon or Naga in Malay is something mystical and
have a strong spiritual meaning which brings to the legendary story of the
Great Dzulkarnain that ruled from one end to the other. Dragon at one end
related to a race ruling the Malay Archipelago and the dragon coil the island
of the Malays. It is always said to me by the late founder the dragon is
his twin, and when we wear the emblem of Silat Seni Gayong, he explained to me
that I {that means him the late founder} will always be there together. The
reason why the emblem should be correctly and exactly attach at the left of the
body which are at the heart. . I would not elaborate more, as a conclusion it
is all related to the Malay Nation. As per the great word of the legendary
Malay Malacca Warrior Hang Tuah,"takkan Melayu Hilang Didunia".

I will only stated the great
stories that been told by the great founder. As per the above stories the other
famous narration are when he was been seal by the great legendary warrior Hang
Tuah at the border of Siam and Tanah Melayu. Do we really know the exact place
where it happen? Whatever it is the most significant facts that the place where
he was sealed is the land of the Malay huge glorious kingdom that far up to the country named today as Cambodia. A
very big and huge Malay Kingdom, and in that sacred land he was bestowed and
seal by the Malay legendary warrior. It was told that he was been tested and
seal when he fell asleep on a black stone. All the fact and myth of the stories
are relatively about the Malay nation, the glorious, the kingdom, the
spiritual, the magical, the greatness of the mystical Malay race.
All these myth and fact secret
was told to me in the heir days and I only shared a few of the famous stories
in convey intent of my student and friend whose has been waiting for this write
up. I hope with this entry it will clear the mist in his mind and open the more
understanding of Silat Seni Gayong.
