All For The Love Of Silat Seni Gayong

Doing things from scratch is not an easy task. Practice any martial arts at Europe are not as easy as it looked. There is many cost involved on getting training places especially, insurance etc. It all cost, and to buy insurance will cost you Eur 350 annually. This entire thing won’t stop you, if you keep driving yourself to the achievement of the art that you loved Silat Seni Gayong.

Renting a place for training at Dublin may cost you Eur 40 per hour. If you have many students it can suit you but if you are a first starter you better think twice. What many people may think when you teach overseas it as easy or much alike in the homeland? The perspectives are wrong. Unless everything is ready for you, just walk in and get all the credit. Some people are lucky in this case and get all the glomming glamorous and been honoured with the achievements from other people struggle.

Children Class

Alhamdulillah , praise to the AlMighty I manage to get a well organised training centre for the people who are interested to share the knowledge of Silat Seni Gayong in Dublin. Thanks and gratitude to the Clonskeagh Mosque, Dublin for the assistance and support. After all the non proper places of training finally all the hard work paid.

With two classes each on every Monday and Wednesday between 1530hrs to 1630hrs for children and continue from 1700hrs until 1830hrs for adult. The training is for free and the promotions are made by the mosques which are under Islamic Council of Ireland.

Children Class, Trying The Art Of Gymnastics

It took me 40 minutes walking from my house to the venue and it will cause you Eur3.70 per trip return by bus. Usually I will walk to the class to save on cost and my pleasure to share the knowledge with the students.

Usually in Europe many instructors would not go to teach if it was free, some instructors are been paid for all the expenses, travelling, lodging and fees for each training. As for me money is not the matter, but some people may think the different way. Is not because I say I have money, what I have just a bit to cover on my expenses of food and house rental, but I pass the knowledge I love with my sincerity. Many people think when you teach overseas you make money, not for me maybe for others. And before saying things about the things that are not sure happen in front of our own eyes please stop all the nonsense.

Alan and Fergal

All the students attending the classes are Irish National and are not all Muslim. I am proud of them for their afford to train and seeking the art of the Malay. For the adult they have various backgrounds from different martial arts such as Escrima, Muay Thai etc.

To the students many thanks for the willing to come for training and sharing the knowledge and for the Mosque your kind assistance are highly appreciated and the spirit of the ukhwah of the brotherhood stands.

Long Live Silat Seni Gayong

Gayong Kin

Kumbang Hitam and Tiger Singapura

Gayong Brotherhood

As scrolling through my photo collections I come across an old photo when visiting Pertubuhan Silat Seni Gayong Malaysia Bahagian Negeri Perlis. The treatments are overwhelming and a great brotherhood ties.

We were brought to their training centre and there we met a man known as “Singapore Tiger”. A man standing tall with a high spirit and enthusiasm, sacrifice for the art he loved Silat Seni Gayong. A man no stranger to me and that man was Cikgu Nordin Abdul Rahman, who started learning Silat Seni Gayong in the fifties at Gayong School, Singapore.

It was a belt congregation ceremony for the practitioner who has flying colours on their previous grading. The event started with a simple demonstration from the students. Some movement and Bunga Tanjong were presented during the opening ceremony. The movement are gracefully applied and show the unity of all the students involved.

A black panther and a tiger sat together with a very strong sense of fraternity and the true fraternity of Silat Seni Gayong. A model should be follow by all of the Gayong families.

I was honoured to present a certificate of appreciation to the members’ involved.  Which I will remember as memories in my odyssey and the brotherhood ties and respect that should be kept forever no matter where we are.

Seni Gayong seni asli,
Turunan wali sakti,
Marilah kita bersatu hati,
Agar kita diberkati.

Adat Dan Tertib Bergelanggang

Seni Gayong seni asli ,
Naungan dari empunya diri ,
Hikmat zahir dengan sendiri ,
Moga kita  diberkati.

Dreams Of The Founder

Dato Meor Abdul Rahman With Michael Blazer From USA

Silat Seni Gayong has been exposed internationally in the early seventies. It was interviewed by Don Dragger in that era and the article was published in Black Belt magazine. Since then many international practitioner in martial arts came to exchange view. Just name a few, Michael Blazer, Jang De Jong, met the founder to get info of what Silat Seni Gayong concept and philosophy.

In the seventies we can see the development of Silat Seni Gayong rapidly in spreading it wings internationally.  A martial arts practitioner from Tunisia, Mohamed Moncef Warghi came in the late seventies. Follow by Hichem AlJasser from Kuwait in 1988, together with Lutfi Al Kehri from Tunisia. The flow until today Joel Champ and Jen Para from USA, Wadie Zoghlamy from Tunisia, Yahya Al Am from Syria, Moussa Teemul from Mauritius and many more from various countries to seek and learn Silat Seni Gayong.

In early tide the student which learned Silat Seni Gayong does not spread the name under Gayong but mixed the art with their previous knowledge. Things change in the late nineties where the entire international student spread it under the same banner Silat Seni Gayong.

Earlier Silat Seni Gayong Was Not Under Gayong Banner..MIxed With All Type of Martial Arts..Using The Logo of Silat Seni Gayong ..This articel is in the seventies.

Now days we can see Silat Seni Gayong everywhere, in the UK, Ireland, France, USA, Syria, Mexico,  Spain, Belgium, Australia, Moscow, Tunisia, Mauritius. We should be proud; all of the countries uplift the same flag, the flag of Silat Seni Gayong.

Dato Meor Abdul Rahman With Jan de Jong From Australia

That was the dream of the late founder, spreading Silat Seni Gayong internationally. Salute to all the instructors involved intentionally or not of making this dream comes thru.

If he is still alive today Dato Meor Abdul Rahman will be smiling proudly to see this development. AlFatihah.

What benefit does the organisation particularly and Malaysia indirectly received from this? The popularity, the sharing of the Malay culture, ambassador of the art of Malaysia and the most important things is that we make our country proud from what we have generate helping promoting our country internationally in our own way.

All the while we have been doing this on our expenses and its time the authorised body govern should put a hand in helping promoting this culture. The cooperation between the NGO and the government body concern should play a bigger role in ensuring it as a tool to promote Malaysia.

Nevertheless I pray to Allah AlMighty may we have united internationally and locally spreading the art of Silat Seni Gayong with all the blessing and with harmony and prosperous brotherhood.

Long Live Silat Seni Gayong.

Bersatu..Bersatu...Bersatu

Salute

I salute for those who have sacrificed their time and money, family and career with all their great effort to spread Silat Seni Gayong. This great credit goes to all whether in Malaysia and internationally.

For those who had done a gob job back home, keep up the good phase and for those in other country should do the same time. Being back home at the heart of Silat Seni Gayong homeland the atmosphere is different when an effort made for spreading the art. The only think that must be bear in mind back home is ignoring the politics in the organisations whether individual politics or so on.

Environment if compare to spreading Silat Seni Gayong in overseas the conjecture is different. The cost of doing it here are more expensive then we think. The standard of living, the legislation and the culture, the people and all things need you to be strong when paddling for the success.

Nobody helping you here, only who with any means doing things for the successful of the organisation and the art. Nobody knows what really happened, what people notice is that Silat Seni Gayong been spread. Salute again to all the instructors on their effort.

For those who been a strong supporter for this art should also been salute, without them things won’t work. As the philosophy of Silat Seni Gayong : ” doing things together of making sure for the success”.

We might have different understanding in many ways but we do have one target, is making sure our art are been uplifted to a standard that meets the requirements.

With all the blessing on this Eid Adha , I wish all the directly involved and not, stay in line for upholding  our beloved Silat Seni Gayong . This message goes to all of Silat Seni Gayong practitioner internationally.
