The City of Cork

Cork is an old city, one of the oldest of all Irish cities. Indeed it is older than many more famous European cities, for instance Berlin. Cork a busy port during the middle age for exporting animal hides and woollen cloth and importing wine for the aristocrats. During the dark era in Europe, Cork was the main port for emigrants from Ireland to USA and other countries fled escaping from poverty. Located on Ireland’s south coast, is the Republic of Ireland’s second largest city and the third most populous city. It is the principal city and administrative center of County Cork which earned the nicknamed of “the Rebel County”.
